Orrick whistled a little tune as he walked down the street. It was no tune in particular, and yet it was every tune you could imagine- one of those familiar type tunes that you could swear you've heard a thousand times, even if you hadn't. He was quite enjoying his little vaccation in New Orleans. In fact, Orrick was very taken with the city and all of the strangeness. He was finding himself especially fond of all of the supernatural aspects of New Orleans, as such things interested him nearly as much as his old bones. His cheery demenor and flashy clothes seemed to almost invite attention, and passersby instantly took him for a happy fool, a nice target for their scams and tricks. After all, such a dapper looking suit must surely belong to a man with money to spare, and a man wearing such a suit in this place was surely a fool.
Indeed, he was somewhat of a fool, but not so much as he appeared. He had heard tales of this particular tourist block, and the mysterious disappearances of jewels and funds, but Orrick had also heard of a fortune teller's shop nearby. The temptation to go to the shop was enough to bring on his foolish carelessness. He trotted on his way, whistling. It wasn't soon before a young girl took her best shot at picking his pocket. The attempt was smoothly thwarted with a smile and a charming "tut-tut" of his deep voice. Orrick encountered a few others that may have been pickpockets as well, though he carefully avoided getting close enough to find out. Before long, he made his way to the fortune telling shop.
